HomeArchiveWalk With Me Walking Postcards: stories from around the region
Here at Region of Readers we love celebrating the storytelling practices upon which communities in the South West are built. Whether that's stories that are passed down from villager to villager or family to family, we celebrate that sharing.
We were delighted to discover therefore, that one of our featured writers, Dawn French has lent her iconic voice and narratorial talents to Kneehigh Theatre’s innvoative Walk with Me walking postcards project.
As part of this project, Artist Anna Maria Murphy and friends have been walking in Cornwall, collecting and re-interpreting stories and memories from the people they met along the way. Presenting Cornwall in a brand new way, hear stories collected from surfers, pub landladies, young mothers, fishermen, tattoo artists, museum volunteers – and everybody else they met along the way. A great way of passing on stories, the vocal stylings of Dawn French bring them to life for a new generation.
Listen to one of the stories, a particular favourite 'Behennah's the Bakers' here. one question - scones jame first, or cream?
