HomeArchiveInteractive website for readers goes live today
We are proud to announce the launch of the South West Region of Readers interactive website - rich and alive with content, local events, recommendations and reviews - all providing ways into reading for pleasure.
The benefits and enjoyment of reading are wide-ranging and proven to support health and personal wellbeing. The website features a reading list of works by South West writers, alongside live information about shared reading groups, cultural activities that promote reading for pleasure, increased digital skills and improved literacy. It is supported by another interwoven project strand in the form of a digital app that launches in the spring.
The Region of Readers website is delivered for our region by a partnership of organisations committed to reading and readers in the South West: six library services in South West England, Literature Works (the literature development agency for the region), the Reader (a charity running shared reading groups) and SWRLS (the South Western Regional Library Service). The project is funded by Arts Council England as part of the Libraries Opportunities for Everyone Innovation Fund.
Medi Bernard of Bournemouth & Poole Libraries said on behalf of the Partnership –
“This project brings libraries, technology and reading together to benefit people of all ages with all interests. We want to help readers explore and make new reading discoveries; and link their reading to social and cultural activities. It’s very exciting how the Region of Readers website and the app that follows later this year can do that.”
