For us, as well as providing an extra day for reading, the late summer Bank Holiday is promising plenty more literary loveliness. Whilst a return of the heatwave summer maybe of questionable merit, one thing that’s guaranteed to give us those summer vibes this Bank Holiday weekend are the hotly anticipated literary adaptations being screened on television this weekend.
First up the much-loved BBC adaptation of Winston Graham’s seminal work Poldark comes to any end after five years on screen. Famed as much for its portrayal of Cornwall’s wild beauty as it is for a certain fellow’s expert scything, we’ll be watching the double-episode final avidly… to spot some of Cornwall’s places of natural beauty of course…
Check out the trailer for the finale here:
We’re also excited for the much talked about adaptation of Sanditon, the final unfinished work by the incomparable Jane Austen.
Sanditon tells the story of Charlotte Heywood and her time in a small seaside town… We’re excited to see how ITV handle this adaptation.
