Over the past year we’ve been journeying around the region via some great works of literature from writers across the south west of England. Our Featured Reads have been recommending literary treasures old and new, in our quest to build a Region of Readers.
Now, that quest has become a mission – which is yours should you choose to accept it. Whilst up and down the region, young readers are Space Chasing their way around libraries to help the Rocket family recover precious books from the moon library, we invite adult readers to join the space race and jet off around the region’s libraries to borrow copies of our intergalactically ingenious list of Science-fiction reads this month.
From a county far, far away (or two hours up the motorway), lovely librarians in the Wiltshire Library Service have chosen five reads to take your summer reading lists to infinity and beyond and explained why they are their top picks.
This month’s picks are: The Red Shirts by John Scalzi The Martian by Andy Weir Wool by Hugh Howey The Humans by Matt Haig Just One Damned Thing After Another by Jodi Taylor
With something for everyone: innovation, invention, fantasy, humanity and history (and not an alien in sight), check out August’s Featured Reads and let’s go out-of-this-world!
